COVID-19: Jain temples closed on occasion of ‘Mahavir Jayanti’ amid nationwide lockdown

New Delhi, Apr 06 (ANI): Jain temples are closed on the occasion of ‘Mahavir Jayanti’ in national capital on April 06. Shri Digambar Jain Ratnatraya Jain Mandir in Delhi’s Dwarka is closed due to coronavirus lockdown. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most auspicious festivals in the Jain community, which is celebrated as birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira-the founder of Jainism. It is celebrated across the world by the Jain community in memory of the last spiritual teacher of Jainism. While speaking to ANI, a monk said, “The temple is closed in view of the coronavirus pandemic as ‘Rashtra Dharm’ comes first.” There are total 528 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Delhi including seven deaths and 18 cured. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 3219 in India and 83 deaths.
