COVID-19: Lone horse cart driver in Rameswaram faces problem due to financial crisis

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Apr 20(ANI): Amid corona lockdown across the country, the lone horse cart driver of Island Town in Rameswaram is facing problems due to financial crisis. After the construction of the Indira Gandhi Road Bridge, transportation shifted mainly to auto rickshaws and cars therefore people quit horse cart riding. Not only due to the road bridge, but many people also quit horse cart riding since there were no mechanics who could work on horse carts anymore. The mechanics opted for other jobs related to the roadway bridge. Subramaniam has gotten for newer wheels and also made many changes to his cart since the time he purchased it, and changes his horse after every two years at a cost of Rs 10,000-15,000. This has helped him stay in business.
