COVID-19: No celebration during ‘Gudi Padwa’ amid lockdown in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 26 (ANI): For the first time in history, Mumbai has witnessed complete lockdown and there was no processions, dance, music, dhol, decorations, colorful rangolis on every nook and corners of the city. The impact of lockdown has been observed during Gudi Padwa celebration in Girgaon area of Mumbai. Gudi Padwa is the traditional New Year for Maharashtrians and Konkanis which was a very low key affair this year as the state and country witness lockdown amid a battle with the novel Coronavirus. Gudi Padwa is celebrated on the first day of Chaitra month, marking the reaping of Rabi crops.
