Eid-ul-Adha: People in Jammu trade at livestock market to buy goat, sheep

Jammu, Aug 11 (ANI): Muslim community will worldwide celebrate ‘Bakrid’ on August 12 this year. They will celebrate this day by sacrificing a male goat as the symbol of sacrifice. People trade at livestock market to buy goats and sheep ahead of Eid-ul-Adha in Jammu. People are flocking to markets to purchase different varieties of goats. Some premium breeds of these goats and sheep are sold in lakhs of rupees. On this auspicious occasion, Muslims offer Eid-al-Adha prayers at the mosque, sacrifice goats, wear new clothes and greet each other. Later, the Muslim families feast on the goat’s meat and also distribute it to the poor and needy people. Eid-al-Adha feast dishes include mutton biryani, mutton keema and bhuni kaleji. Among the desserts there are sheer kurma and kheer.
