Jul 18, 2023

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport via video conferencing on July 18. Addressing the inaugural program, the Prime Minister attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that if someone insults a particular society, he is given a special place. He said, “If someone is out on bail under corruption charges, then he is seen with huge respect. If the entire family is on bail, then they are taken care of in much better way. If someone insults a particular society, he is given a special place.” Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment which disqualified him as an MP under the rigours of the Representation of People Act. In March 2023, the magisterial court had convicted Gandhi for his remarks ahead of the 2019 national polls about the ‘Modi’ surname. After his conviction in the case, Rahul Gandhi was declared disqualified as MP from Kerala’s Wayanad on March 24 following notification of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
