Flooded and forgotten: Anger grows in Pakistan-Occupied Gilgit-Baltistan

PoGB, 19 May 2026: - For years, the people of Pakistan occupied Gilgit-Baltistan have warned about the growing dangers of deforestation, unchecked construction, and rapidly melting glaciers. But despite repeated climate disasters, little action has been taken to protect the vulnerable. Now, rising water levels are once again creating serious problems across the region. The worsening crisis reflects years of political neglect and administrative failure in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan.
