From coastal breeze to global reach: VOC Port leads India’s windmill blade exports
Oct 23, 2025
Tuticorin [India], October 23 (ANI): The V.O. Chidambaranar Port (VOC Port) in Tuticorin has emerged as India’s top hub for exporting windmill blades, handling 1,158 blades in the current financial year—a 5% increase over last year. In August 2025, the port set a new record by exporting 101 blades in a single shipment to the United States, surpassing its previous best of 75. This success is powered by specialized infrastructure, including a 100,000 sqm dedicated storage area and congestion-free roadways designed for massive blades over 59 meters long. Exports manufactured in southern India serve global markets such as the US, Turkey, Australia, and Europe, strengthening India’s position in renewable energy. With plans to expand rail connectivity and integrate green hydrogen, VOC Port is gearing up to support the clean energy transition on a larger scale. The V.O. Chidambaranar Port is now preparing to showcase these achievements at the forthcoming India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, scheduled to be held in Mumbai from October 27 to 31, 2025. Ahead of India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, VOC Port aims to attract ₹1 lakh crore in investments for capacity expansion and green projects, further solidifying its role as a key player in India’s renewable export sector.
