Gujarat Polls 2022: Incident hit Morbi voters cast votes

Gujarat, Dec 01 (ANI): The Morbi bridge incident in Gujarat in October 2022, which claimed the lives of over 130 people, shook the entire nation when the state was preparing itself for the Assembly Election of 2022. The high-octane political battle during campaigning in the Gujarat Assembly elections has boiled down to a battle of ballots as Gujarat undergoes its first phase of polling on December 01. Voting began at 8 AM in the morning and will conclude at 5 PM. Among the 89 seats spread across 19 districts of South Gujarat and Kutch-Saurashtra regions, Morbi became a talking point following the tragic incident recently in which a suspension bridge fell into the river claiming several lives. The BJP has fielded Kantilal Amrutiya, who replaced the sitting MLA and Cabinet Minister Brijesh Merja. Kantilal Amrutiya had jumped into the Machchhu river to rescue people following the collapse of the suspension bridge in Morbi. Voters of Morbi cast their vote keeping in mind the incident to decide the political fate of 788 candidates.
