Guwahati traffic cops sing and dance to celebrate ‘Rongali Bihu’ amid lockdown

Guwahati (Assam), Apr 14 (ANI): Traffic Police personnel in Assam’s Guwahati celebrated ‘Rongali Bihu’ amid coronavirus lockdown. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak. Cops were seen singing and dancing on traditional folk songs. Rongali Bihu is also called as ‘Xaat Bihu’ or ‘Bohag Bihu’ which is celebrated to mark the beginning of the Assamese New Year. While speaking to ANI, the ASI (Traffic) of Dispur Police Station, Imran Hussain said, “We extend our greetings to everyone on the occasion. Please stay at home in this lockdown. If we stay healthy only then will we be able to celebrate Bihu.” There are total 31 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Assam. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 8988 in India and 339 deaths.
