Pune (Maharashtra), Mar 07 (ANI): Asianet and MediaOne television news channels are back on air, before the 48 hours ban. The channels were banned by Information and Broadcasting Ministry for alleged communally insensitive coverage of Delhi violence. While talking to media in Pune, I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar said, “Two Kerala channels were banned for 48 hours, we immediately found out what actually happened and therefore immediately we restored the channels. Our basic thought process is that press freedom is absolutely essential for a democratic setup and that is commitment of Modi government as we fought emergency in which press freedom was muzzled.” “Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern on this issue. I will go into details and take essential steps if any wrong doing. Also, everybody accepts it has to be responsible freedom,” the Information and Broadcasting Minister further said.
