The Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj while speaking on rising global food insecurity at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) claimed that India has been contributing to confining the global food insecurity by providing humanitarian assistance, particularly food grains to the countries involved in conflicts. “The level of food insecurity has reached alarming proportions, it is being projected that the number of people who will be food insecure this year will be double the number this year 2020...India has provided critical humanitarian assistance to the countries facing conflicts, these include Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen and Myanmar…” Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj also advocated for collective solutions, quick humanitarian access, capacity building and equity in addressing global crises and reflected that India is ready to extend a helping hand to those in need and continue to walk the talk.
