J-K govt trains women of Rajouri for Chir Pine Needle Handicraft under UMEED scheme

Rajouri (J&K), Jan 18 (ANI): Under the UMEED scheme of J-K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) of Jammu and Kashmir government, financially unstable women of Moghla Block of Kalakote sub-division in Rajouri district are getting training for Chir Pine Needles Handicraft. A group of 20 women from rural areas are being trained to be skilled under the Umeed Scheme. This is the first time Chir Pine Needles training has been started to boost women’s empowerment. Women are making roti box trays, pen holders, tea coaster, baskets and purses with Chir Pine Needles. People of remote areas are grateful for providing such training for the upliftment of women in the valley. The Jammu and Kashmir government started the UMEED scheme of J-K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) with an aim of building strong grassroots institutions for the underprivileged, engaging them in gainful livelihood interventions and ensuring appreciable improvement in their income on a sustainable basis.
