J&K Sericulture Dept supervises mulberry pruning aimed at boosting cocoon production

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), June 7 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir Sericulture Department is conducting pruning operations of mulberry trees to boost cocoon production in the Valley. As the lockdown restrictions are eased in the valley, the pruning operation is being conducted in full swing. “If you prune in the month of May and June, it will survive and sustain. The purpose of pruning is to train and prune the trees. We shape them so that the minimum/maximum branches will bear new leaves. When the leaves get proper sunshine, the trees will grow stronger” says Khurshid Ahmad, Farm Manager Mulberry station.
