Kashmir native Waseem Shah making a name for himself at International Level Martial Arts

Ganderbal (J&K), April 20 (ANI): Waseem Shah, an international Martial Arts player who hails from Safapora village in Ganderbal district, has brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir. He has so far won an international silver medal and eight national medals. The journey has not been an easy one for him. Although he was bent to make a name in Martial Arts from an early age, his family wanted him to be an officer. He had got inspiration from his coach who had visited his school. He picked up the game and started playing. There was also a time in his life when he had only time to practice on Sundays. But he showed a lot of resilience and pursued his passion. His hard work finally paid and he got selected for the National games. Then, he also got an opportunity to don India jersey. He secured a Silver medal for the country in an international championship. Now, he is sweating hard to prepare for world championship which is going to be held this year. He is also working as a coach in a sports academy where he gives training to many youngsters. He is also working to open a sports club in Jammu and Kashmir with the aim to keep the youths away from drugs.
