KTR releases Hyderabad’s Biodiversity index

Apr 21, 2023

Hyderabad, April 21 (ANI): Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K.T. Rama Rao released the city bio-diversity index for Hyderabad on April 18. The index can be used to monitor, conserve, and develop biodiversity in the city. The City Biodiversity Index, also known as the Singapore Index, is the only index established exclusively for monitoring and evaluating biodiversity in cities. Previously, Hyderabad received its City Biodiversity Index in 2012 (at the COP11 summit), and Kolkata created it in 2017. For the second time, Hyderabad was the first city to produce the Biodiversity Index. The index is created using 23 different biodiversity indicators, such as ongoing biodiversity conservation activities in each city, the support provided by the local Government and different biodiversity improvement measures. Out of 92 marks, Hyderabad scored 57 marks in the index.
