Muslims in Bareilly…” Senior Sunni cleric alleges UP govt of discrimination, puts forward demands

Bareilly (UP), Oct 1, 2025 (ANI): Ala Hazrat Dargah & IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan's brother Touseef Raza Khan said, "Bareilly is a centre of the Sunni community... Regarding the 'I Love Mohammad' protests, only a memorandum was going to be presented... No one gathered there for any kind of riot, disturbance, or sloganeering. If they had allowed Tauqeer Raza Khan to go to the mosque and present the memorandum, he would have asked the gathered people to return. But he was detained and wasn't allowed to reach the mosque and offer prayers. The lathi charge that followed worsened the situation... Muslims in Bareilly are being given collective punishment for being Muslim. The police are exaggerating the situation. Innocent Muslims are being falsely accused of attacks with pistols, petrol bombs, and acid bottles. A video from near Indira Market has gone viral, showing some people pelting stones at Muslims and police from the rooftops. This proves that the stone-pelting was a conspiracy to disrupt the atmosphere. The police are deliberately ignoring it. In Bareilly, innocent Muslims are being arrested continuously and are being brutally beaten in police stations and paraded before the media, leaving them unable to walk properly. They are being denied food and water. Bulldozers have been parked outside the homes of innocent Muslims across the city, and illegal demolitions are being carried out. Muslim women and girls are being subjected to atrocities during raids. Even children are being beaten. Mosque raids are being carried out, and Imams and priests are being harassed. Due to this, prayers are getting disrupted in many mosques, a blatant violation of the constitutional right to practice one's religion. The police are even objecting to the timing and method of prayer. Police oppression and brutality have created an atmosphere of fear not only in Bareilly but also among millions of Sunni Muslims across the world. We place these demands before the administration and the government: an immediate ban on the arrest of innocent Muslims. Arbitrary police raids must be stopped immediately. Cases filed against innocent Muslims must be withdrawn, and they must be released. Bulldozer operations must also be stopped immediately, and the atmosphere of terror must be ended. If these demands are not met immediately, a concrete decision will be taken soon..."
