May 30, 2026

Nepal celebrated the 19th Republic Day with patriotic events and cultural programmes across the country. A grand ceremony at Kathmandu’s Tundikhel grounds featured colourful performances, security force parades and presentations by civil organisations. President Ram Chandra Paudel, PM Balendra Shah, Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma and other dignitaries attended the celebrations. In his message, President Paudel called for unity, inclusive development and protection of democratic values. He also paid tribute to martyrs and citizens who contributed to Nepal’s republican movement. Republic Day marks the historic end of monarchy and the declaration of Nepal as a Federal Democratic Republic in 2008 following the People’s Movement that restored democracy in the Himalayan nation.
