NMCG marks World Environment Day with major push for river conservation

On World Environment Day, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) hosted a significant event in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, highlighting India’s commitment to river conservation. Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil emphasized the mission’s three pillars: ecological restoration, sustainable living, and technology-driven conservation. The event featured a cleanliness drive, student interactions, and a workshop on organic farming. Director General Rajeev Kumar Mital highlighted the ₹40,000 crore investment in 500+ projects under Namami Gange. Street plays and community participation underlined the importance of cultural and environmental stewardship. The initiative reinforced Ganga’s sacred value and the urgency of sustainable practices.
