No orders for Durga idols amid pandemic, artisans in crisis

Siliguri (West Bengal), Aug 07 (ANI): With only months left for Durga Puja, the artisans in West Bengal are facing a crisis of orders. With the fear of third wave and COVID restriction, the artisans have already cut down their budget and production of idols. “We used to get orders from various big budget organisers. But nothing has come yet. Last year, West Bengal government allowed organising the festivals following the COVID protocols. We do not know what will happen this year. But, we will be finished if the anticipated third wave of coronavirus comes during the puja season,” said Asoke Paul, an artisan.
