“No water, No power” Women storm streets in PoGB, Activist alleges systemic negligence
Feb 25, 2026
PoGB, 25 February 2026: - Senge Sering, a political activist from Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan, has backed women leading protests in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan, saying they are highlighting decades of neglect. He said women are spearheading a rights movement over water, electricity, and sanitation shortages, as residents in the occupied region protest prolonged outages and severe power cuts. The activist further said that Pakistan has illegally occupied the region of PoGB, which rightfully belongs to India, and that Islamabad should vacate it immediately. Critics argue that the ongoing crisis reflects a pattern of systemic neglect and discrimination against PoGB, which has long been marginalized in terms of political representation and equitable resource distribution.
