Opposition demands ‘All-Party Delegation’ to visit in Manipur, calls Administration ‘untrustworthy’

New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Northeastern state Manipur has been witnessing widespread violence since May 03. Home Minister Amit Shah chaired an all-party meeting in Delhi over the prevailing situation. BJP President JP Nadda, TMC Leader Derek O'Brien, RJD, Congress and others attended the meeting. As per reports, members of opposition parties demanded ‘All-Party Delegation’ to visit Manipur. Political slugfest broke out after RJD Leader Manoj Jha termed Manipur Administration ‘untrustworthy’. Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Priyanka Chaturvedi, DMK’s Tiruchi Siva questioned PM Modi’s silence over the violence. Meanwhile, BJP’s Sambit Patra defended the Govt by calling HM Amit Shah’s Manipur visit in late May an ‘unprecedented’ one. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sambit Patra said, Home Minister assured that steps will be taken to bring normalcy. However, the situation in violence-hit Manipur remained grim amid Army’s deployment. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 29 visited Manipur to plan for peace measures. A committee was formed to access the ground reality and bring peace to the state. So far, more than 100 people have lost their lives and many were displaced due to the ethnic clash.Violence gripped Manipur on May 3, as clashes broke out during a rally organised by the All Tribals Students Union.The protest rally was organised by ATSU in demand for the inclusion of the Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe.
