Pakistan’s Punjab stops giving subsidised flour to needy, essentials being sold in black

New Delhi, April 5 (ANI): During these tough times when Pakistanis are struggling for basics, the government is accused of backstabbing the citizens. Despite severe economic crisis, essential commodities are not being provided by the government at fair prices. The flour mills were found selling the commodity in black and Pakistan's Punjab government has stopped giving subsidies. The shopkeepers with the full backing of the sitting government and flour mills were selling the commodity in 'black'. Punjab govt not only stopped selling subsidised flour, but also increased the rate of those 10-kg bags from PKR 648 to PKR 1150. Adding to woes of citizens, the shopkeepers have now started selling the flour bags in ‘black’ at PKR 1600-1650. Stampedes have also been reported in different parts of Pakistan and many have lost their lives. The situation is so bad that people are getting injured, hospitalized as they are struggling to get food. Observers feel Pakistan Govt’s corruption has rubbed salt in the wounds of public, who are living in despair.
