People celebrate Gudi Padwa inside their homes amid coronavirus scare

Hubli (Karnataka), Mar 25 (ANI): Gudi Padwa, the festival which marks the traditional new year for Marathi and Konkani Hindus was celebrated under the shadow of COVID-19 scare. People restricted themselves by going out and celebrated the festival only with their families by taking precautionary measures. Gudi Padwa marks the beginning of the New Year and the harvest season. On the Gudi Padwa day, people decorate their home with rangoli, a special Gudhi flag. According to Hindu religious beliefs, hoisting Gudi (flag) brings luck and good fortune.
