PoK: People demand closure of asphalt crushing plants amid raising health concerns

Muzaffarabad, PoK, 05 JULY, 2022: - People in Muzaffarabad region of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) held a protest to demand the closure of asphalt crushing plants, which they claimed were polluting the environment and causing various respiratory and heart diseases amongst the local population. They shouted slogans like ‘let us breathe’ and ‘let us live a life of dignity’ and slammed the Pakistan government for pushing them towards a deteriorated standard of life. The protesters said these plants have almost reached hundred in number and are running without adopting safety measures or considering the health hazards caused by them. They said people are falling sick due to the dust and fumes from these plants.
