Jan 14, 2026

Muzaffarabad, PoJK, 14 January 2026: Political tension is once again escalating in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as public anger grows over the non-implementation of an agreement between the Government of Pakistan and the Joint Awami Action Committee. Protest leaders accuse the authorities of backtracking on their commitments, particularly regarding political representation and governance reforms. The protest come amid allegations of excessive force and targeted action against youth activists. Highlighting the importance of patience, Shaukat Nawaz Mir said that the committee deliberately exercised restraint and discipline despite repression. The lack of genuine political representation has contributed to multiple governance failures across the region. Alongside political discontent, residents are now grappling with prolonged electricity load-shedding, particularly in rural areas.
