Punjab may release 5800 ‘petty’ criminals as COVID-19 disrupts priorities

Mohali (Punjab), Mar 18(ANI): Punjab Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on March 18 said that 2800 criminals who have been put behind the bars for petty crimes like snatching and 3000 criminals who were caught with small quantity drugs should be released post the coronavirus outbreak. “Final decision is yet to come,” said the Jail Minister. Randhawa further added that the proper precautionary measures are being taken by the jail authorities for all the inmates.
