Moscow (Russia), Dec 13 (ANI/TV BRICS): Zurab Tsereteli says, art helps not only build personal relationships but also international ones. The sculptor's gallery has opened an exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Russian-Indian diplomacy. The "Russia-India: Garden of friendship" exhibition includes more than 150 artefacts - paintings, sculptures and personal belongings of artists who worked during those decades. Those student works by Shatsky, Shmarinov and Bulatov had been preserved in the Surikov institute's archives for more than half a century. In 1954, the artists spent half a year travelling around Asia. The paintings were taken out of the archives and restored 15 years ago. The exhibition also includes works by contemporaries. The artist Viktor Kalinin saw a meeting of mother and daughter in a fresco in an Indian temple. It is his first painting in this style. And this is "Varanasi" by painter Vladimir Sokovnin. He admits that he even dressed up to match his work. India's ambassador to Russia Pavan Kapoor expressed the hope that the cultural exchange would help attract young people and expand areas of cooperation between the countries.
