SAIL has taken pan-India measures against coronavirus: Chairman Anil Chaudhary

New Delhi, Apr 29 (ANI): Public Sector Undertaking Maharatna Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) Chairman Anil Kumar Chaudhary, in an exclusive interview to ANI, said that SAIL has already contributed Rs 30 Crore as well as a day's salary of SAIL's employees amounting to approximately Rs 9 Crore to the PM-CARES Fund for fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Chaudhary also said the state-run company has also contributed Rs 1 Crore each, totalling Rs 4 Crore, to the Chief Minister Relief Funds of four states viz. Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. SAIL has spearheaded various measures to fight the spread of coronavirus at a pan-India level including wide distribution of masks and sanitisers. The Company has set up 330 isolation beds and around 600 beds quarantine facilities in its Plants and Unit hospitals and townships for the benefit of people of the surrounding regions. The Company has a stock of around 14,000 tonnes of Oxygen to be used in case of emergency. SAIL has produced 16.15 million tonnes of crude steel during the financial year 2019-20, which is the highest among all other steel producers in the country. SAIL has also achieved the best ever annual sales of 14.5 Million Tonnes (MT) in 2019-20 with a growth of 2.8% over the corresponding period last year.
