Shazia Akhter’s self-help group empowers girls in Srinagar

Srinagar, April 27 (ANI): Shazia Akhter started a self-help group within the locality to empower girls and to make them self-earned. She hails from a remote area of Gurez Valley in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. She started her group owns self and motivate other girls to join her self-help group. She named her brand ‘Gurez Naturals’ in which she introduced handmade woolen products made by her group members. They got a good response from the people of her valley as this is known as the coldest place and people like to buy handmade items to save from the cold. She also expanded her venture and introduced more products like Gurez Rajma pulses and Black Cumin which became a high demand in the market and all over the country. Department of Livelihood Mission under the Umeed Scheme also gave financial assistance and marketing to help them to boost their work. She inspired more girls toward this work and introduce more products in this self-earning group.
