New Delhi, Mar 04 (ANI): Union Minister Piyush Goyal addressed Raisina Dialogue 2023 on March 04. While talking about trade with China and how the Indian government plan to bring down trade with China, Piyush Goyal slammed previous governments for attracting more Chinese goods into the country. “After 2004 almost an outreach was done, to engage more with China, and to attract Chinese goods into the country in a big way. I don't want to politicize the subject at this event particularly, but between 2004 and 2014, we saw trade grow rapidly and the trade deficit went up by over 30 times. Then 35 times the trade deficit expanded in that brief tenure,” said Piyush Goyal. He also said that Modi Government is working on bringing quality consciousness into the country. “We feel today with the kind of investments that are coming into manufacturing that more and more domestic manufacturing will take over high-quality products and goods at affordable prices. Simultaneously, we are working very extensively on bringing quality consciousness into the country,” he said. “Effort across the GoI is that we focus on quality. PM Modi initiated the ‘Zero Defect and Zero Effect’ program in 2014 and we have been relentlessly working on it. India is one of the few countries which has taken sustainability very seriously,” Piyush Goyal added.
