Uttarakhand Sets a New Benchmark in Equality, Empowerment and Good Governance

Uttarakhand is advancing social reforms, equality and good governance with a strong focus on inclusive development. By implementing the Uniform Civil Code, the state has established a new national benchmark in social and legal reform. Greater awareness about marriage registration has taken registrations to as high as 1,634 per day. Women’s economic empowerment has gained momentum, with more than 2.65 lakh women emerging as financially independent through the Lakhpati Didi initiative. Over 66,000 Self Help Groups connect nearly 4.89 lakh women, strengthening rural livelihoods and local economies. The Mukhyamantri Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana provides grants of up to ₹1.5 lakh. Efforts to curb child marriage further reinforce Uttarakhand’s emerging model of equality, empowerment and inclusive progress.
