Uyghur voices raise concerns

Geneva [Switzerland], September 25 (ANI): President of the World Uyghur Congress, Dolkun Isa said China can no longer shield the reality facing Uyghurs in Xinjiang from growing international scrutiny. Speaking on Chinese policies in the region, Isa alleged that while the underlying policy remains unchanged, Beijing has adapted its tactics in response to increased global attention. He also alleged that China has organised visits for journalists, diplomats and scholars to project an image of normalcy in Xinjiang. Isa raised concerns over China’s new Ethnic Unity and Progress Law and alleged continued restrictions on Uyghur and Tibetan languages in daily life and education. He called for sustained international scrutiny of the situation.
