Villagers celebrate ‘Shant festival’ amid heavy snowfall with great fervor in Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Jan 11 (ANI): Villagers gathered to celebrate ‘Shant festival’ with great pomp and show in Shimla. The ‘Shant festival’ means ‘festival of purification’. It is organised to purify the deity, ‘Khantu Devta’ and the temple. Villagers offered prayers for prosperity and peace of region. ‘Shant festival’ was organised after 29 years. Despite heavy snowfall, villagers celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm. They were seen happily dancing at the snow-covered temple to promote century-old tradition.
