Will file writ petition in SC against dismissal of mercy petition by President in short time: Convicts’ lawyer

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): The lawyer of convicts in 2012 gang rape case, AP Singh said that he will file a writ petition in Supreme Court against the urgency shown by the President in reviewing the mercy petition of a convict. He said, “Supreme Court dismissed the writ petition for mercy today. The second mercy petition of one of the convict, Pawan Gupta, was rejected today by the President of India. We will file a writ petition against the dismissal of convict’s mercy petition in such a short time. We will demand a stay on their execution.” The second mercy petition for Pawan Kumar was file on March 18 and it was dismissed by President Ram Nath Kovind on March 19. The convicts in Nirbhaya case are scheduled to be executed on March 20.
