London (UK), Karachi (Pakistan), June 08 (ANI): The World Sindhi Congress held a protest opposite Downing Street in London against the land grabbing in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The rally was attended by Sindhi and Baloch activists, highlighting the illegal occupation of Bahria Town in Karachi. Bahria Town – owned by Pakistani business tycoon Malik Riaz – spans 46,000 acres. It is one of the most valuable lands of indigenous Sindhi people, who allege that the land is occupied by force with the support of the Pakistan Army. The Supreme Court of Pakistan found the acquisition of land by Bahria Town illegal. Hundreds of protesters recently attacked Bahria Town in Karachi and set fire to several shops and vehicles in the housing society. The locals were protesting for forceful eviction from their ancestral lands in the vicinity.
