"I voted for a progressive state": Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao appeals to people to exercise franchise in assembly polls

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 30 : Telangana Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama RAO on Thursday appealed to the people of the state to cast their vote.
KT Rama Rao along with his wife Shailima arrived at Hyderabad's Nandi Nagar polling booth in Banjara Hills to cast their votes.

After casting his vote, the BRS leader also urged the people to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
"I have done my duty as a citizen of Telangana. I voted for betterment, I voted for my state. I voted for people who will take the state forward in a progressive manner. I appeal to all citizens of Telangana to come out and exercise your franchise," he said while speaking to the reporters here.
A total of 8.52 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 9 am, according to the Election Commission of India.
Adilabad recorded a voter turnout of 13.50 per cent, Bhadradri at 8.33 per cent, Hanumankonda at 6.89 per cent and Jagtial at 10.82 per cent.
KT Rama Rao, the son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is contesting from the Sircilla seat, which he won in 2018 by a significant margin of over 89,000 votes.
Chief Minister and the founder of BRS, K Chandrashekar Rao, or KCR, is contesting from two seats: his original seat, Gajwel, and Kamareddy. In the 2018 elections, KCR secured a victory in Gajwel by over 58,000 votes. This time, he faces BJP leader Etela Rajender in Gajwel and Congress state unit chief Revanth Reddy in Kamareddy.
Polling for the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana began on Thursday morning. As many as 2,290 candidates from 109 national and regional parties including 221 women and one transgender are in the fray.
The counting of the votes will take place on December 3, coinciding with the the other four states- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
