Tamil Nadu govt changes public holiday date of Vinayakar Chaturthi

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 31 : The Tamil Nadu government has declared to change the Public holiday on account of ‘Vinayakar Chaturthi’ on September 18 instead of September 17, 2023.
“The Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments has stated that as per the reports of the various temple heads, "Vinayakar Chathurthi" will be celebrated on 18.09.2023 (Monday) instead of 17.09.2023 (Sunday),” a government order said.
Vinayakar Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. It is one of the most popular Hindu festivals.
The festival is celebrated for 10 days and it is believed that during this time, Lord Ganesha arrives on earth with his mother, Goddess Parvati, and showers blessings on the people.
“The Government, after careful consideration of the matter has decided to change the Public Holiday from 17.09.2023 (Sunday) to 18.09.2023 (Monday) on the occasion of "Vinayakar Chathurthi" under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Accordingly, the following Notification will be published in an extra-ordinary Gazette dated 01.09.2023,” government order added.
Lord Ganesha is known as Vinayakar in the southern region of India.
