Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva felt India's ability to turn the starts provided by KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal into big scores put the hosts under pressure in the first Test, which India won by 165 runs at the Galle International Stadium on Wednesday.

In absence of an injured Sai Sudharsan, Padikkal played a statement knock, taking a massive leap towards sealing his spot in Test team at number three, scoring 167 and 44 in the Test. His maiden Test ton gave Team India a massive cushion of runs from which ultimately proved to be the difference all along, especially with fighting efforts from Niroshan Dickwella, Sonal Dinusha and Dhanajaya de Silva.
