New Delhi, Sep 10 (ANI): The Congress has refused to be a part of the proposed inquiry committee of MPs being set up to investigate the violent incidents that took place in the House during the monsoon session on August 11. “I requested him (RS Chairman) that there is no necessity to constitute an inquiry committee (to probe ruckus in RS on Aug 11) because the matter is already over and session is closed. Once a matter is closed, it shouldn't be reopened,” said LoP in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge. Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Prahlad Singh Patel on September 10 called the decision unfortunate. “It's unfortunate that Opposition refused to join the committee formed to probe the unfortunate incident in the House. The step (setting up inquiry committee) was taken to safeguard democratic values. This (Opposition's reaction) is reprehensible. I believe that maligning the Centre inside the Rajya Sabha is an attempt to escape,” he said.
