“Withdraw controversial Gita scene…” Uday Mahurkar writes to Openheimer Director Christopher Nolan

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): While Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus ‘Oppenheimer’ has intrigued moviegoers across India, a fresh row has erupted over a controversial scene in the movie with reference to Bhagawat Gita.Storngly protesting against the scene, Founder of Save Culture Save India Foundation and Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar has written an open letter to Christopher Nolan. “Oppenheimer was a scientist, the father of the Atom Bomb. He drew inspiration from Gita. It is good for us, the producer and director showed this to viewers. But, in the film, they have inserted a scene, that has no relation with reality. In the scene, he is having intercourse with his girlfriend and she is showing him Gita. He is reciting shlokas from the book. This is an insult to Gita,” said Mahurkar while talking to ANI. “It is a great granth which can lead the entire world…To demean the book in such a manner is an assault on our civilization and Hindu community,” Mahurkar added. Mahurkar said that his foundation wrote a letter to Christopher Nolan to withdraw the scene and he is ready to take steps if action is not taken.
