3 June 2025, ANI, Imphal East, Manipur: Amid Manipur’s ongoing unrest, Ranita Devi, 40, is leading a quiet revolution in Brahmapur Nahabam Bamon Leikai through SMILE, her small-scale food processing unit. With training from the District Industries Centre, she now produces over 80 items from local fruits and vegetables. SMILE not only revives native produce but also empowers tribal women by sourcing from the hills. Despite setbacks, including her husband's illness and the closure of their earlier venture, Ranita rebuilt from home. Today, SMILE provides jobs to eight women and sells products both online and offline, with plans to expand across Northeast India.
