PoGB Residents Take to Streets Over Water, Power, and Inflation Crisis

PoGB, 28 March 2026: - In Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan, people struggle with soaring prices, limited electricity and poor water supply which is becoming a challenge. With daily life disrupted and essential needs unmet, residents were forced to step onto the streets, protesting for their basic rights and exposing the deepening crisis in PoGB. The ongoing crisis in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan reflects the country’s broader failure to provide basic necessities such as clean water and uninterrupted electricity. The struggles of residents in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan go far beyond water and electricity shortages. The region suffers from crumbling infrastructure, failing roads, inadequate healthcare, and limited educational facilities, leaving communities isolated and vulnerable. Daily life is marked by hardship, with basic services unreliable or absent. Government apathy has forced people to protest repeatedly, highlighting not only their immediate needs but also the broader systemic neglect that continues to hold back development and quality of life in PoGB.
