Jul 02, 2026

New Delhi [India], July 2 : Congress MP Manish Tewari on Thursday shared a cryptic post on X after the party announced new working presidents and poll panels for Punjab, a move that left him out of the organisational reshuffle.
Reacting to a newspaper article titled "Manish Tewari left in the cold as Congress appoints new working presidents, poll panels for Punjab," Tewari said he wished he had "an antidote" for the insecurities of individuals and institutions.
"Wish I had an antidote for the insecurities of individuals and institutions! Having said that, INCIndia has given me enough over the past 45 years and I have also devoted my entire adult life in the service of the Indian National Congress over the decades. Que sera, sera, Whatever will be, will be..." Tewari posted on X.
The Congress leader was reacting to a newspaper report on the party's latest organisational appointments in Punjab which spoke of his non-inclusion in the various state committees. Tiwari is currently an MP from Chandigarh, in 2019 he was an MP from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and has also been an MP from Ludhiana.
The remarks came after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Wednesday announced key organisational appointments for the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, naming chairpersons and co-chairpersons of multiple election-related committees, with no organisational role assigned to Congress MP Manish Tewari, a three-term Lok Sabha member from Chandigarh and one of the party's prominent leaders in Punjab.
According to a press release issued by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the appointments with immediate effect.
As per the announcement, Charanjit Singh Channi has been appointed Chairperson of the Campaign Committee, while Vijay Inder Singla will be Chairperson of the Election Management and Coordination Committee. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been named Chairperson of the Core Committee, and Amar Singh will lead the Manifesto Committee.
The party also confirmed that Amarinder Singh Raja Warring will continue as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, while Pratap Singh Bajwa will remain Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Punjab.
The AICC further announced the appointment of three Working Presidents for the Punjab unit -- Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Raj Kumar Verka, and Sangat Singh Gilzian.
