Piyush Goyal assures Telangana farmers of no discrimination in paddy procurement

New Delhi, March 24 (ANI): Union Minister for Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal on March 24 assured of no discrimination among farmers from different states. “As per agreement with Food Corporation of India, states are required to do the procurement of rice, and the Central government purchases rice based on market demand. States after procurement of rice for their own consumption in the state, the balance is taken by the government,” said Piyush Goyal. The Minister added, “Farmers of Telangana can rest assured that there is absolutely no discrimination among the farmers from different states. Some politicians in Telangana are misleading the farmers in the state. I request the Telangana government to stop this.” Earlier, a delegation of Telangana ministers landed in Delhi to meet Piyush Goyal with demand to procure 100 per cent paddy from the state.
