Alappuzha administration harnessing advanced tech to monitor COVID-19 situation

Alappuzha (Kerala), Apr 12 (ANI): From geo mapping to use of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system for patients surveillance, the Alappuzha district of Kerala is one step ahead in their attempts to control the outbreak of COVID-19 by being technologically savvy. COVID-19 cell has been set up at Alappuzha District Collectorate to monitor quarantine compliance by possibly infected people in real time and their health conditions. It is done through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System. While speaking to ANI, the District Collector of Alappuzha, M Anjana said, "In our COVID control room, we use technology to reach out to large number of people to provide them medical advice and assistance. Even in the case of community transmission of COVID-19, this cell can operate from remote areas." Geo mapping is used with assistance from Google to locate and shift patients to isolation wards. There are total 364 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kerala including 2 deaths. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 7367 in India and 273 deaths.
