Shopian (J&K) Dec 11 (ANI): The two-day ‘Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan’ festival kicked off in Shopian, J&K on December 11. The festival is being organized by the Indian Army with assistance from Shopian District Administration. The festival witnessed large participationof students and local residents from nearby and adjoining areas. Shopian Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya, was the Chief Guest of the event. The DC and Commanding Officer 15 Garhwal Rifles AshutoshThapliyal inaugurated the festival by tossing Pigeons in the air. The festival is aimed at promoting Kashmiri culture, handicrafts, and cuisine. Musical bands attracted the locals and brought warmth in Kashmir’s chilling weather. This festival was held to promote tourism, maintain safeguard and revitalize the uniqueness and richness of Kashmiri history.
