Baramulla (J&K), Dec 07 (ANI): Indian Army’s Dagger Division flagged off Sabita Mahato’s 2,951 km solo cycle ride from Kaman Aman Setu near the Line of Control at Uri Tehsil in Baramulla district on December 06. The cyclist from Bihar is undertaking the cycle ride to commemorate 75 years of Independence and carry along with her the euphoria of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav across the length and breadth of India. The theme of the expedition was ‘Ride for Real Heroes’. Her ride will conclude in Dhaka of Bangladesh. It is not only symbolic of unity in diversity of India, but also highlights selfless service of men in uniform. Sabita Mahato, an endurance cyclist and mountaineer, undertakes various expeditions to garner attention for various pertinent social causes like women empowerment, social justice and access to basic amenities for the oppressed section of society. Apart from bringing social causes to the fore, her endeavour is also pivotal in fueling the imagination of women in society to strive for their dreams and goals. Sabita Mahato has proved her mettle by undertaking various cycling and mountaineering expeditions in challenging rugged terrains of Ladakh to Nepal. She has covered 12,500 km of cycle rides across 29 states.
