New Delhi: Swiss legend Roger Federer announced his retirement from competitive Tennis on September 16. In a letter, he has announced that upcoming Laver Cup in September this year would be his last Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) event. It was a distinguished career for Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles in the kitty. As a young boy, he had stunned the world by upsetting then Numero Uno Tennis player Pete Sampras in Wimbledon game in 2001. He never looked back ever since then. What followed was one of the greatest displays of Tennis by a player. He achieved a real domination in Tennis arena in his career. As a matter of fact, he holds the record for being at Number 1 position for most consecutive weeks – 237 in ATP history. One of other examples of his domination was that he is the only player to have reached the finals of all 4 slams in a season thrice in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Also, he is the one who has won the most Grand Slam men’s singles main matches – 369 - in Open Era. He had won a whopping 17 grand slam titles till 2017 and eventually was able to add three more Grand Slam titles by 2018.
