अहमदाबाद नगर निगम (AMC) ने शहर में हरियाली बढ़ाने के लिए 69 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से 21 लाख पेड़ लगाने का बड़ा अभियान शुरू किया है। ‘मिशन 4 मिलियन ट्रीज’ की शुरुआत मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र पटेल ने 5 जून, विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस पर सिंदूर वन में सिंदूर के पौधे लगाकर की, जो ‘ऑपरेशन सिंदूर’ को समर्पित है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य हरित आवरण बढ़ाना, हवा की गुणवत्ता सुधारना, शहरी गर्मी घटाना और जैव विविधता को बढ़ावा देना है। AMC, रहवासी सोसाइटियों, स्कूलों और NGO के सहयोग से मानसून के दौरान सामूहिक पौधारोपण करेगा। पहले से मौजूद ऑक्सीजन पार्कों के साथ यह योजना अहमदाबाद को हराभरा बनाने और जलवायु संकट से निपटने की दिशा में सराहनीय कदम है।
