Muzaffarabad, PoK, 12 January 2021: - Tens of hundreds of teachers are on the streets in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Sloganeering against the government, which they say has misruled the region for decades, they are demanding a long due up-gradation in their salaries. Teachers say while the other government departments, especially the high ranking officials have been receiving a regular hike in their remuneration, teachers are ignored and discriminated against. An appeal made recently to convene against the government resonated with a large number of teachers and hundreds of them gathered in Muzaffarabad. However, police baton-charged them and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the teachers.
